  I had breakfast with 50+ JWs on Sunday

  we pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.

  i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!

  i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

  I am really going to try and practice thinking in these terms, short, funny, to the point, no wriggle room. Good idea about approaching the teens. they cannot resist being 'in the know.'

  in the early 1990s, i was in a meeting.

  we were making some major changes to the main it system of the company i worked for.

  during the meeting i said, 'what would happen if one of our major customers went belly up and shouldn't we build something into the system to cope with this?'.

  I think that money might do it... People are crunched for money and time. If the publishers found out that this call for "more money for our tremendous need for more K Halls" was really resulting in a

  1. selling off of K Halls on prime land

  2. a combining of congregations due to less publishers

  3. finding out the Society was lying, manipulating/ using them, asking for more and more and more while actually doing less and less (no K Halls being built, but sold... no "missionaries" coming home for the conventions.... no real costs but more $$$$$ needed)

  I think that this would really get people mad. Not doctrine... Money!

  Facts and figures, that is what is needed (remember when they ask for more money at the Circuit Assembly? "We are behind by $5,000" then "Oh, we have $6,000 extra, let's send it to Bethel!!" "Yay!" Such liars, they were never behind, it was a terrible rue they used every weekend to rake in the money! Shame on "God's true organization")

  My sister, unbeknownst to me, was terrified of this picture..... She remembered every detail... She couldn't sleep at night... since age five, she was horrified of the coming "great" tribulation and Armageddon.

  Not until we left the Borg a few years ago did she tell me this... Fear, a terrible thing, an evil thing to weigh on the minds of innocent children who should be enjoying their youth!

  I wonder when the weight of the evidence (changes in doctrine, reports of pedophiles, court cases, news reports) piled onto the underground diggings (the magnitude that cannot be seen: taking K Hall titles, using money for retirement homes, having people donate their whole life existence in wills to the "Society", shunning people into shame) will finally cave in (the system collapses) and all will 'be brought to light'?

  if you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.

  i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.

  i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.

  Me personally? I hear them talking about the flood of Noah's day (when Jesus said, "Just as in the days of Noah") and the 120 years of preaching that Noah did....

  I think that if all this insanity of "overlapping" doesn't work out (or, even to support/ reinforce it) they will say something like: "Jesus 'evidently' meant to give us a clue when he mentioned Noah and the preaching' and that will mean this 'last generation' could last until .... 1914 + 120 = 2034! So keep preaching, like Noah did!

  Me? I have always tried to enjoy life, love people, make memories... but, of course, life in the WT world limits you.... However, after reading so many experiences from people NOT JW's (scientologists, baptists, other cults, no cults, alcoholics, drug addicts, and on and on) it seems as tho each person is born into a circumstance... a family with beliefs and customs.

  Each child must grow up, figure it out and either accept or reject "his reality." I picture myself as an American Indian... Think of all the weird customs, beliefs and things you may have had to grow up with (not alllllll American Indians... ) But picture yourself dancing around a fire, with a skirt of type, feathers, spear, etc.... drums pounding... It really does not make a lot of sense in the 'real' world. They didn't scare off evil spirits, or cure people with their chants, but MAYBE the family had great bonds. Maybe the children were close to their parents, became close to all in their village, felt happy.

  I ran into an art teacher I use to work with the other day, we both were having our cars tuned up, and I spoke with her for a while. I told her my story of being and leaving Jehovah's Witnesses... a 'cult'.... so that she could help kids in school to reason, help them with their struggles... Guess what? This educated person told me that she too had been in a cult in her 20's and the only reason she got out, realized it was a cult, was because the leader died. Some in her group started following Armstrong.

  My point is, I could have been born into many different families. Each child must grow up, learn, and decide what to do with their life. All of us. I decided to make the most of what I have. I do not like what the WT has done, what it has stolen (family and friends) but I really do try to focus on enjoying what is going on each day, each minute.

  Death? Well, sometimes I think of it.... Like my cats... I have had many, they are gone, I remember them, but there is nothing more I can do but enjoy the ones I have left. One day I too will be gone, maybe no one will remember me. That is kind of weird...... So many people in the past are gone, and that's one thing I wanted to do in the new order, meet EVERY one who had ever lived, ask them about their lives, find out what REALLY happened in history. Now? I can't. But I try to make people feel good, and appreciated, and valuable. I love the look in their eyes.

  I could have been born into many circumstances, but I am here now, and will fight to make the most of it. WT will not take that from me!
